WuYan Expressway starts from Wuhu Liulang Interchange, connects with Wuhu-Xuancheng Expressway, reaches Yanjian Town in Xuancheng in the east, and ends with Gaochun - Liyang Expressway under construction in Jiangsu Province, with a total length of 16.92 kilometers. Wuwu-Yan Expressway started construction in November 2009, and was officially opened to traffic on December 19, 2012. The whole line is constructed according to the standard of two-way four-lane expressway, fully closed, full interchange, driving speed of 120 kilometers, with Henggang, Wuhu, Shuiyang three toll stations and Xinwu-Wu service area. The estimated investment is 1.533 billion yuan. The opening of this road section is of great significance for strengthening the economic relations between Anhui and Jiangsu provinces and promoting the Wanjiang region to better integrate into the Yangtze River Delta economic circle.

Because the project is located in the area of Jiangnan River network, most of the construction is on soft soil foundation, and a large amount of water needs to cross along the line, and the proportion of Bridges is as high as 80%.
